| 1. | Wassaaaffaati saffaa | By those who range themselves in ranks, | وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا |
| 2. | Fazzaajiraati zajraa | And so are strong in repelling (evil), | فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا |
| 3. | Fattaaliyaati Zikra | And thus proclaim the Message (of Allah)! | فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا |
| 4. | Inna Illaahakum la Waahid | Verily, verily, your Allah is one!- | إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ |
| 5. | Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq | Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all between them, and Lord of every point at the rising of the sun! | رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ |
| 6. | Innaa zaiyannas samaaa ‘ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib | We have indeed decked the lower heaven with beauty (in) the stars,- | إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ |
| 7. | Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid | (For beauty) and for guard against all obstinate rebellious evil spirits, | وَحِفْظًا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَارِدٍ |
| 8. | Laa yassamma ‘oona ilal mala ‘il a’alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib | (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, | لَا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ جَانِبٍ |
| 9. | Duhooranw wa lahum ‘azaabunw waasib | Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, | دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ |
| 10. | Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba’ahoo shihaabun saaqib | Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. | إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ |
| 11. | Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib | Just ask their opinion: are they the more difficult to create, or the (other) beings We have created? Them have We created out of a sticky clay! | فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمْ مَنْ خَلَقْنَا ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُمْ مِنْ طِينٍ لَازِبٍ |
| 12. | Bal’ajibta wa yaskharoon | Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule, | بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ |
| 13. | Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon | And, when they are admonished, pay no heed,- | وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ |
| 14. | Wa izaa ra aw Aayatany yastaskhiroon | And, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, | وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ |
| 15. | Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen | And say, “This is nothing but evident sorcery! | وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُبِينٌ |
| 16. | ‘A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa ‘izaaman ‘a innaa lamab’oosoon | “What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) | أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ |
| 17. | Awa aabaa’unal awwaloon | “And also our fathers of old?” | أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ |
| 18. | Qul na’am wa antum daakhiroon | Say thou: “Yea, and ye shall then be humiliated (on account of your evil).” | قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنْتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ |
| 19. | Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon | Then it will be a single (compelling) cry; and behold, they will begin to see! | فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنْظُرُونَ |
| 20. | Wa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen | They will say, “Ah! Woe to us! This is the Day of Judgment!” | وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ |
| 21. | Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon (section 1) | (A voice will say,) “This is the Day of Sorting Out, whose truth ye (once) denied!” | هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنْتُمْ بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
| 22. | Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya’budoon | “Bring ye up”, it shall be said, “The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- | احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ |
| 23. | Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem | “Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! | مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| 24. | Wa qifoohum innahum mas’ooloon | “But stop them, for they must be asked: | وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ مَسْئُولُونَ |
| 25. | Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon | “´What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?´” | مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ |
| 26. | Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon | Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); | بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ |
| 27. | Wa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa ba’diny yatasaaa’aloon | And they will turn to one another, and question one another. | وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ |
| 28. | Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa ‘anil yameen | They will say: “It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!” | قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ |
| 29. | Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu’mineen | They will reply: “Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! | قَالُوا بَلْ لَمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 30. | Wa maa kaana lanaa ‘alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen | “Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion! | وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ |
| 31. | Fahaqqa ‘alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa’iqoon | “So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). | فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا ۖ إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ |
| 32. | Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween | “We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray.” | فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ |
| 33. | Fa innahum Yawma’izin fil’azaabi mushtarikoon | Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. | فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ |
| 34. | Innaa kazaalika naf’alu bil mujrimeen | Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. | إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ |
| 35. | Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon | For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, | إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ |
| 36. | Wa yaqooloona a’innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa’irim majnoon | And say: “What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?” | وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَجْنُونٍ |
| 37. | bal jaaa’a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen | Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). | بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 38. | Innakum lazaaa’iqul ‘azaabil aleem | Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- | إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ |
| 39. | Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta’maloon | But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- | وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| 40. | Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen | But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- | إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 41. | Ulaaa’ika lahum rizqum ma’loom | For them is a Sustenance determined, | أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَعْلُومٌ |
| 42. | Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon | Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, | فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُمْ مُكْرَمُونَ |
| 43. | Fee jannaatin Na’eem | In Gardens of Felicity, | فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ |
| 44. | ‘Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen | Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): | عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ |
| 45. | Yutaafu ‘alaihim bikaasim mim ma’een | Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, | يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ |
| 46. | Baidaaa’a laz zatil lish shaaribeen | Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), | بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِلشَّارِبِينَ |
| 47. | Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum ‘anhaa yunzafoon | Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. | لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنْزَفُونَ |
| 48. | Wa ‘indahum qaasiraatut tarfi ‘een | And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). | وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ |
| 49. | Ka annahunna baidum maknoon | As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. | كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَكْنُونٌ |
| 50. | Fa aqbala ba’duhum ‘alaa badiny yatasaaa ‘aloon | Then they will turn to one another and question one another. | فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ |
| 51. | Qaala qaaa’ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen | One of them will start the talk and say: “I had an intimate companion (on the earth), | قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ |
| 52. | Yaqoolu ‘a innaka laminal musaddiqeen | “Who used to say, ´what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? | يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ |
| 53. | ‘A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa ‘izaaman ‘a innaa lamadeenoon | “´When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?´” | أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ |
| 54. | Qaala hal antum muttali’oon | (A voice) said: “Would ye like to look down?” | قَالَ هَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُطَّلِعُونَ |
| 55. | Fattala’a fara aahu fee sawaaa’il Jaheem | He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. | فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| 56. | Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen | He said: “By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! | قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنْ كِدْتَ لَتُرْدِينِ |
| 57. | Wa law laa ni’matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen | “Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! | وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنْتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ |
| 58. | Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen | “Is it (the case) that we shall not die, | أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ |
| 59. | Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu’azzabeen | “Except our first death, and that we shall not be punished?” | إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ |
| 60. | Inna haazaa lahuwal fawzul ‘azeem | Verily this is the supreme achievement! | إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ |
| 61. | Limisli haaza falya’ma lil ‘aamiloon | For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. | لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ |
| 62. | Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqoom | Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? | أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ |
| 63. | Innaa ja’alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen | For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. | إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِلظَّالِمِينَ |
| 64. | Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem | For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: | إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| 65. | Tal’uhaa ka annahoo ru’oosush Shayaateen | The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: | طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ |
| 66. | Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali’oona minhal butoon | Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. | فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ |
| 67. | Summa inna lahum ‘alaihaa lashawbam min hameem | Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. | ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِنْ حَمِيمٍ |
| 68. | Summa inna marji’ahum la ilal Jaheem | Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. | ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ |
| 69. | Innahum alfaw aabaaa’ahum daaalleen | Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; | إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ |
| 70. | Fahum ‘alaa aasaarihim yuhra’oon | So they (too) were rushed down on their footsteps! | فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ |
| 71. | Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen | And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- | وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| 72. | Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen | But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِمْ مُنْذِرِينَ |
| 73. | Fanzur kaifa kaana ‘aaqibatul munzareen | Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- | فَانْظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ |
| 74. | Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen (section 2) | Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. | إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 75. | Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani’mal mujeeboon | (In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. | وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ |
| 76. | Wa najjainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil ‘azeem | And We delivered him and his people from the Great Calamity, | وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| 77. | Wa ja’alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen | And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); | وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ |
| 78. | Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen | And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ |
| 79. | Salaamun ‘alaa Noohin fil ‘aalameen | “Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!” | سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 80. | Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen | Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. | إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 81. | Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen | For he was one of our believing Servants. | إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 82. | Summa aghraqnal aakhareen | Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. | ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ |
| 83. | Wa inna min shee’atihee la Ibraaheem | Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. | وَإِنَّ مِنْ شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ |
| 84. | Iz jaaa’a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem | Behold! he approached his Lord with a sound heart. | إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ |
| 85. | Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta’budoon | Behold! he said to his father and to his people, “What is that which ye worship? | إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ |
| 86. | A’ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon | “Is it a falsehood- gods other than Allah- that ye desire? | أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ |
| 87. | Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil’aalameen | “Then what is your idea about the Lord of the worlds?” | فَمَا ظَنُّكُمْ بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 88. | Fanazara nazratan finnujoom | Then did he cast a glance at the Stars. | فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ |
| 89. | Faqaala innee saqeem | And he said, “I am indeed sick (at heart)!” | فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ |
| 90. | Fatawallaw ‘anhu mudbireen | So they turned away from him, and departed. | فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ |
| 91. | Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon | Then did he turn to their gods and said, “will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?… | فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ |
| 92. | Maa lakum laa tantiqoon | “What is the matter with you that ye speak not (intelligently)?” | مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنْطِقُونَ |
| 93. | Faraagha ‘alaihim darbam bilyameen | Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. | فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ |
| 94. | Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon | Then came (the worshippers) with hurried steps, and faced (him). | فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ |
| 95. | Qaala ata’budoona maa tanhitoon | He said: “Worship ye that which ye have (yourselves) carved? | قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ |
| 96. | Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta’maloon | “But Allah has created you and your handwork!” | وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ |
| 97. | Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem | They said, “Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!” | قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ |
| 98. | Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja ‘alnaahumul asfaleen | (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! | فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ |
| 99. | Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen | He said: “I will go to my Lord! He will surely guide me! | وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ |
| 100. | Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen | “O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!” | رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ |
| 101. | Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem | So We gave him the good news of a boy ready to suffer and forbear. | فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ |
| 102. | Falamma balagha ma’a hus sa’ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif ‘al maa tu’maru satajidunee in shaaa’allaahu minas saabireen | Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: “O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!” (The son) said: “O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!” | فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانْظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ |
| 103. | Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen | So when they had both submitted their wills (to Allah), and he had laid him prostrate on his forehead (for sacrifice), | فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ |
| 104. | Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem | We called out to him “O Abraham! | وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَنْ يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ |
| 105. | Qad saddaqtar ru’yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen | “Thou hast already fulfilled the vision!” – thus indeed do We reward those who do right. | قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 106. | Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa’ul mubeen | For this was obviously a trial- | إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ |
| 107. | Wa fadainaahu bizibhin ‘azeem | And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: | وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ |
| 108. | Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen | And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ |
| 109. | Salaamun ‘alaaa Ibraaheem | “Peace and salutation to Abraham!” | سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ |
| 110. | Kazaalika najzil muhsineen | Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. | كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 111. | Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen | For he was one of our believing Servants. | إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 112. | Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyam minas saaliheen | And We gave him the good news of Isaac – a prophet,- one of the Righteous. | وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ |
| 113. | Wa baaraknaa ‘alaihi wa ‘alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafsihee mubeen (section 3) | We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. | وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ |
| 114. | Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon | Again (of old) We bestowed Our favour on Moses and Aaron, | وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ |
| 115. | Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil ‘azeem | And We delivered them and their people from (their) Great Calamity; | وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| 116. | Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen | And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles); | وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ |
| 117. | Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen | And We gave them the Book which helps to make things clear; | وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ |
| 118. | Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem | And We guided them to the Straight Way. | وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ |
| 119. | Wa taraknaa ‘alaihimaa fil aakhireen | And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times: | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ |
| 120. | Salaamun ‘alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon | “Peace and salutation to Moses and Aaron!” | سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ |
| 121. | Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen | Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. | إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 122. | Innahumaa min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen | For they were two of our believing Servants. | إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 123. | Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen | So also was Elias among those sent (by Us). | وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 124. | Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon | Behold, he said to his people, “Will ye not fear (Allah)? | إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ |
| 125. | Atad’oona Ba’lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen | “Will ye call upon Baal and forsake the Best of Creators,- | أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ |
| 126. | Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa’ikumul awwaleen | “Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?” | اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| 127. | Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon | But they rejected him, and they will certainly be called up (for punishment),- | فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ |
| 128. | Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen | Except the sincere and devoted Servants of Allah (among them). | إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 129. | Wa taraknaa ‘alaihi fil aakhireen | And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: | وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ |
| 130. | Salaamun ‘alaaa Ilyaaseen | “Peace and salutation to such as Elias!” | سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِلْ يَاسِينَ |
| 131. | Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen | Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. | إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
| 132. | Innahoo min ‘ibaadinal mu’mineen | For he was one of our believing Servants. | إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| 133. | Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen | So also was Lut among those sent (by Us). | وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 134. | Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma’een | Behold, We delivered him and his adherents, all | إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ |
| 135. | Illaa ‘ajoozan fil ghaabireen | Except an old woman who was among those who lagged behind: | إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ |
| 136. | Summa dammarnal aakhareen | Then We destroyed the rest. | ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ |
| 137. | Wa innakum latamurroona ‘alaihim musbiheen | Verily, ye pass by their (sites), by day- | وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُصْبِحِينَ |
| 138. | Wa billail; afalaa ta’qiloon (section 4) | And by night: will ye not understand? | وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ |
| 139. | Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen | So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). | وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 140. | Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon | When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, | إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ |
| 141. | Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen | He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: | فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ |
| 142. | Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem | Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. | فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ |
| 143. | Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen | Had it not been that he (repented and) glorified Allah, | فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ |
| 144. | Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub’asoon | He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. | لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ |
| 145. | Fanabaznaahu bil’araaa’i wa huwa saqeem | But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, | فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ |
| 146. | Wa ambatnaa ‘alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen | And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. | وَأَنْبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِنْ يَقْطِينٍ |
| 147. | Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi’ati alfin aw yazeedoon | And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. | وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ |
| 148. | Fa aamanoo famatta’ naahum ilaa heen | And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. | فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ |
| 149. | Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon | Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- | فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ |
| 150. | Am khalaqnal malaaa’i kata inaasanw wa hum shaahidoon | Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? | أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ |
| 151. | Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon | Is it not that they say, from their own invention, | أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ مِنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ |
| 152. | Waladal laahu wa innahum lakaaziboon | “Allah has begotten children”? but they are liars! | وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ |
| 153. | Astafal banaati ‘alal baneen | Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? | أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ |
| 154. | Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon | What is the matter with you? How judge ye? | مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ |
| 155. | Afalaa tazakkaroon | Will ye not then receive admonition? | أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ |
| 156. | Am lakum sultaanum mubeen | Or have ye an authority manifest? | أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُبِينٌ |
| 157. | Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen | Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful! | فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ |
| 158. | Wa ja’aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad ‘alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon | And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! | وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ |
| 159. | Subhaanal laahi ‘ammaa yasifoon | Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! | سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ |
| 160. | Illaa ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen | Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. | إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 161. | Fa innakum wa maa ta’budoon | For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- | فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ |
| 162. | Maaa antum ‘alaihi bi faaatineen | Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, | مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ |
| 163. | Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem | Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! | إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ |
| 164. | Wa maa minnaaa illaa lahoo maqaamun ma’loom | (Those ranged in ranks say): “Not one of us but has a place appointed; | وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَعْلُومٌ |
| 165. | Wa innaa lanah nus saaffoon | “And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); | وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ |
| 166. | Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon | “And we are verily those who declare (Allah´s) glory!” | وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ |
| 167. | Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon | And there were those who said, | وَإِنْ كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ |
| 168. | Law anna ‘indanaa zikram minal awwaleen | “If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, | لَوْ أَنَّ عِنْدَنَا ذِكْرًا مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ |
| 169. | Lakunna ‘ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen | “We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!” | لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ |
| 170. | Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya’lamoon | But (now that the Qur´an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! | فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| 171. | Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li’ibaadinal mursa leen | Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), | وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 172. | Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon | That they would certainly be assisted, | إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنْصُورُونَ |
| 173. | Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon | And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. | وَإِنَّ جُنْدَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ |
| 174. | Fatawalla ‘anhum hatta heen | So turn thou away from them for a little while, | فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ |
| 175. | Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon | And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! | وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ |
| 176. | Afabi’azaabinaa yasta’jiloon | Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? | أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ |
| 177. | Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa’a sabaahul munzareen | But when it descends into the open space before them, evil will be the morning for those who were warned (and heeded not)! | فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنْذَرِينَ |
| 178. | Wa tawalla ‘anhum hattaa heen | So turn thou away from them for a little while, | وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ |
| 179. | Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon | And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! | وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ |
| 180. | Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil ‘izzati ‘amma yasifoon | Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! | سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ |
| 181. | Wa salaamun ‘alalmursaleen | And Peace on the messengers! | وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ |
| 182. | Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil ‘aalameen (section 5) | And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. | وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
