| 1. | Izas samaaa’un shaqqat | When the sky is rent asunder, | إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ |
| 2. | Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat | And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- | وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ |
| 3. | Wa izal ardu muddat | And when the earth is flattened out, | وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ |
| 4. | Wa alqat maa feehaa wa takhallat | And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, | وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ |
| 5. | Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat | And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). | وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ |
| 6. | Yaaa ayyuhal insaanu innaka kaadihun ilaa Rabbika kad han famulaaqeeh | O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. | يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ |
| 7. | Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenih | Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, | فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ |
| 8. | Fasawfa yuhaasab hisaabany yaseeraa | Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, | فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا |
| 9. | Wa yanqalibu ilaaa ahlihee masrooraa | And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! | وَيَنْقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا |
| 10. | Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo waraaa’a zahrih | But he who is given his Record behind his back,- | وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ |
| 11. | Fasawfa yad’oo thubooraa | Soon will he cry for perdition, | فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا |
| 12. | Wa yaslaa sa’eeraa | And he will enter a Blazing Fire. | وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا |
| 13. | Innahoo kaana feee ahlihee masrooraa | Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! | إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا |
| 14. | Innahoo zanna an lany yahoor | Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! | إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ يَحُورَ |
| 15. | Balaaa inna Rabbahoo kaana bihee baseeraa | Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! | بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا |
| 16. | Falaaa uqsimu bishshafaq | So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; | فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ |
| 17. | Wallaili wa maa wasaq | The Night and its Homing; | وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ |
| 18. | Walqamari izat tasaq | And the Moon in her fullness: | وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ |
| 19. | Latarkabunna tabaqan ‘an tabaq | Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. | لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍ |
| 20. | Famaa lahum laa yu’minoon | What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- | فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| 21. | Wa izaa quri’a ‘alaihimul Quraanu laa yasjudoon (make sajda) | And when the Qur´an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, | وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩ |
| 22. | Balil lazeena kafaroo yukazziboon | But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). | بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ |
| 23. | Wallaahu a’lamu bimaa yoo’oon | But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) | وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ |
| 24. | Fabashshirhum bi’azaabin aleem | So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, | فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ |
| 25. | Illal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati lahum ajrun ghairu mamnoon | Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. | إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ |
