91. Ash - Shams

| 1. | Wash shamsi wa duhaa haa | By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; | وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا |
| 2. | Wal qamari izaa talaa haa | By the Moon as she follows him; | وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَاهَا |
| 3. | Wannahaari izaa jallaa haa | By the Day as it shows up (the Sun´s) glory; | وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّاهَا |
| 4. | Wallaili izaa yaghshaa haa | By the Night as it conceals it; | وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَاهَا |
| 5. | Wassamaaa’i wa maa banaahaa | By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; | وَالسَّمَاءِ وَمَا بَنَاهَا |
| 6. | Wal ardi wa maa tahaahaa | By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: | وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَاهَا |
| 7. | Wa nafsinw wa maa sawwaahaa | By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; | وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّاهَا |
| 8. | Fa-alhamahaa fujoorahaa wa taqwaahaa | And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- | فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَاهَا |
| 9. | Qad aflaha man zakkaahaa | Truly he succeeds that purifies it, | قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا |
| 10. | Wa qad khaaba man dassaahaa | And he fails that corrupts it! | وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا |
| 11. | Kazzabat Samoodu bi taghwaahaaa | The Thamud (people) rejected (their prophet) through their inordinate wrong-doing, | كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَاهَا |
| 12. | Izim ba’asa ashqaahaa | Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). | إِذِ انْبَعَثَ أَشْقَاهَا |
| 13. | Faqaala lahum Rasoolul laahi naaqatal laahi wa suqiyaahaa | But the Messenger of Allah said to them: “It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!” | فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نَاقَةَ اللَّهِ وَسُقْيَاهَا |
| 14. | Fakazzaboohu fa’aqaroohaa fadamdama ‘alaihim Rabbuhum bizambihim fasaw waahaa | Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! | فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِذَنْبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا |
| 15. | Wa laa yakhaafu’uqbaahaa | And for Him is no fear of its consequences. | وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَاهَا |
