| 1. | Al qaari’ah | The (Day) of Noise and Clamour: | الْقَارِعَةُ |
| 2. | Mal qaariah | What is the (Day) of Noise and Clamour? | مَا الْقَارِعَةُ |
| 3. | Wa maa adraaka mal qaari’ah | And what will explain to thee what the (Day) of Noise and Clamour is? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ |
| 4. | Yauma ya koonun naasu kal farashil mabthooth | (It is) a Day whereon men will be like moths scattered about, | يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ |
| 5. | Wa ta koonul jibalu kal ‘ihnil manfoosh | And the mountains will be like carded wool. | وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنْفُوشِ |
| 6. | Fa-amma man thaqulat mawa zeenuh | Then, he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) heavy, | فَأَمَّا مَنْ ثَقُلَتْ مَوَازِينُهُ |
| 7. | Fahuwa fee ‘ishatir raadiyah | Will be in a life of good pleasure and satisfaction. | فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَاضِيَةٍ |
| 8. | Wa amma man khaffat mawa zeenuh | But he whose balance (of good deeds) will be (found) light,- | وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَازِينُهُ |
| 9. | Fa-ummuhu haawiyah | Will have his home in a (bottomless) Pit. | فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ |
| 10. | Wa maa adraaka maa hiyah | And what will explain to thee what this is? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا هِيَهْ |
| 11. | Naarun hamiyah | (It is) a Fire Blazing fiercely! | نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌ |
